Youth Reporting Internship Posting (Embodied Social Media)

North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC is hiring an intern for Embodied as part of its Youth Reporting Internship program. 

This is a paid position with flexible hours, up to 16 per week, with a pay rate of $18/hour. The position will be in-person with some possibilities for hybrid/remote work. A computer will be provided. 

The position is expected to start in mid-August and run through early December. The intern is expected to participate in a showcase event in early December, most likely on December 3 or December 10, 2026. The intern will participate in skills workshops with other WUNC Youth Reporting Interns. 

This position is open to currently enrolled college students and recent graduates. 

Education and Experience

Minimum requirement: High school diploma or equivalency, and one year of related experience or college course work. 

Preferred or Leading Candidates will have:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with standard spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style; understanding of journalistic practices, ethics and public media core values.

The Embodied Social Media Internship:

This intern will work within WUNC’s Digital Content department primarily with the team behind

Embodied — a radio show and podcast telling stories about sex, relationships and health.

Job duties will primarily include content creation for web and social media platforms. This intern will provide feedback on the show’s social and digital strategy and also will be asked for production support as needed. The candidate will support the producer, editor and host of Embodied in engaging their audience through social and digital platforms. Candidates for this position should have some graphic design and/or digital marketing experience.
