WUNC News is hiring a part-time Weekend Host based in Chapel Hill.

This position is responsible for live continuity hosting during NPR and other network programs. The host will be on air from 1-8 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. 

The host will deliver local content as scheduled including underwriting and other announcements. They will monitor and respond to breaking news situations in consultation with station leadership. 

This position also serves as a back-up host for weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings as needed. 

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. 

Leading candidates will have:

  • At least two years of radio or television broadcasting experience that includes live hosting and operating a board
  • Experience in public media and journalism
  • Familiarity with automation playback systems like WideOrbit
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines, working with materials from a variety of sources and collaborators
  • A familiarity with North Carolina

WUNC provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience in central and eastern North Carolina. The station has a weekly cume of nearly 200,000 listeners and is ranked Number 1 in the Raleigh Metro Market.

The pay range for this position is $25-35 per hour. Benefits are not offered for this position.
