Audio Storytelling Producer
4Culture, the cultural funding agency for King County, Washington, in partnership with King County Metro and KBCS 91.3 FM, is seeking an Audio Storytelling Producer to develop and produce an original series of twelve short audio works, approximately four minutes each, for Moving Stories.
Six regional artists are creating short-form graphic novels inspired by the people, places, and communities connected to Metro’s RapidRide network. In collaboration with these artists, the producer will shape an audio series that complements the graphic novels as a parallel body of work, exploring new dimensions through sound.
The completed audio series will also form the basis for an approximately one-hour radio special developed in collaboration with KBCS.
We’re looking for someone with experience in documentary audio, podcasting and/or public radio, and collaborative, community-engaged storytelling. The selected producer will lead the creative and technical production of the series, exploring approaches that may include interviews, oral histories, neighborhood soundscapes, narrated essays, experimental audio, and hybrid formats.
Eligibility
Open to professional audio producers who live in Washington State.
Compensation
$32,000 professional services fee, with a separate budget for approved direct production expenses.
Deadline
4:00 PM PST on Thursday, December 3, 2026
