About Laura Joyce

Laura Joyce Davis teaches storytelling at Stanford, Duke, and Google, and co-founded Narrative Podcasts. In addition to teaching, Laura consults and producer for Think Fast, Talk Smart, and the award-winning creator of the memoir podcast Shelter in Place. She was previously a Lecturer and Managing Editor for the Stanford Storytelling Project, where she taught Stanford undergrads, producers, and oversaw production for State of the HumanPodcast Magazine named her a Top Influencer in Podcasting, and her work has been recognized with a Fulbright, a PR News Social Impact Award, and the IWPA “Changing the World One Moment at a Time” award. Her book, Nothing is Wasted: How to write, produce, & revise a narrative podcast (2027, University of Chicago Press) guides students, teachers, and new producers through the entire process of turning ideas, interviews, and research into compelling audio stories, and includes interviews with over 30 podcast experts, including Ira Glass, Jad Abumrad, Ronald Young, Jr., Lulu Miller, and Nichole Hill.
