About Laurah
Laurah Norton is a writer, researcher, host, and showrunner whose work covers investigative true crime, paranormal history, and narrative nonfiction. She is the creator of The Fall Line and One Strange Thing, two independently produced narrative audio series covered by Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, Vulture, CNN, and People, among thirty additional national outlets.
As a showrunner, she develops both series from the ground up: concept, story structure, season arc, and all editorial decisions from first source to published episode. She manages researchers, producers, and audio engineers, supervising all production through delivery.
Norton has been writing professionally for twenty years. Her work includes more than 500 scripted audio episodes, a traditionally published book of narrative nonfiction (Lay Them to Rest, Hachette Books, 2023), journalism, and literary fiction and poetry published in journals and anthologies. She received an Audible Best-of Award for Outstanding Narration for the Lay Them to Rest audiobook, which she also narrated.
Her research draws on forensic science literature, legal and court records, academic sources, and historic newspaper archives. She acquires records directly, conducts field work, and interviews a wide range of subjects: forensic scientists, medical examiners, law enforcement, attorneys, advocates, and family members. That work has contributed to cold case resolutions and identifications.
Norton held faculty positions at Georgia State University concurrently with her podcast work, rising to Principal Senior Lecturer in the English Department. She built GSU's first permanent narrative podcasting curriculum, secured the grant to establish and run its podcast studio, and developed and taught more than fifteen distinct courses across sixteen years. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Georgia State University and a BA in English from Guilford College.
