About Sonia
Sonia Herrero is an audio engineer, sound designer, and composer based between New York and Washington, DC. Most recently a Production Engineer and Sound Designer at The New York Times, where she handled recording setups, dialogue editing, mixing, and post-production for video podcasts including The Ezra Klein Show, The Interview, The Opinions, Interesting Times, and Modern Love. In addition to NBC and Vox Media content, she works across in studio and remote (Dante / Riverside) sessions on tight daily deadlines.
Her career spans NBC, Vox Media, Bloomberg Television, Equinox Media, and Sirius XM, where she engineered live music and talk recordings reaching millions of listeners. Through her freelanced based work, she has composed and sound designed for documentary, short film, and public art installations (including sound walks for DC Commission of the Arts), and taught sound design workshops at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Sound Scene festival. She trained in mixing and mastering at Berklee and is an Ableton Certified instructor.
She's looking for freelance and contract producer work, post-production and composition work, full seasons of episodes or per-episode mixing. She is available remote or on site in DC or NYC.
