About Theo
My work involves excavating overlooked technologies and vernacular culture to create innovative audio productions with narrative heft and everyday impact.
For fifteen years I've hosted and produced a long-form interview show with the world's foremost artists and writers for young people, based on an expansive oral history approach.
I host Infinite Contact, a weekly, syndicated terrestrial radio show for WaveFarm, the international transmission arts organization. The show is high-wire dj culture meets audio literature, activated through live performance and deep investigation into obscure, invented, and cross-pollinated archives of American music and sound.
I'm a dj, collector, cultural producer, musician, sound designer, and artist, equally obsessed with maximum depth and maximum entertainment. I work for the people! I've also published over twenty works of fiction and nonfiction for young readers.
Theo's Portfolio
An improvised audio novel performed live, blending deep listening to Kenneth Higney's rare outsider album, "Attic Demonstration," which serves as a Proustian madeleine for a recovered narrative about befriending Higney to make a documentary, then abandoning the project, and him. An examination of artistic extraction, guilt, documentary ethics, and how we live with betrayal and loneliness.
I currently host and produce the in-house podcast for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the world's oldest and largest organization for children's literature. I've conducted close to 200 long-form interviews, and a few of the guests I've booked/talked with include Jason Reynolds, Jacqueline Woodson, Kate DiCamillo, Brian Selznick, Shaun Tan, "Bobbito" Garcia, Judy Blume, Ruta Sepetys, Jeff Kinney, John Klassen, Mac Barnett, Laurie Halse Anderson, Peter Brown, Grace Lin, and hudreds more.
Infinite Contact is on 90.7 WGXC in Catskill, airing Saturday's from 4-6pm. The show is a live, improvised variety program built around immersive vinyl and cassette DJ sets exploring deep, forgotten, and invented corners of American music, alongside live in-studio performances, interviews, and studio hangs. Technically daring and spontaneous, each episode is a narrative immersion into a sceneāan attempt to make radio expansive and alive.
