At AIR, we believe supporting educators means supporting the whole lifespan of an audio career. That's why AIR's Audio Educators community exists: to give educators the resources, connections, and peer support they need, and to help students step into a field that's ready for them. Whether you're a department head, an adjunct, a recent grad, or an industry pro who wants to give back, there's a place for you here.

AIR connects you with a community of fellow educators and working professionals, gives you resources and events to bring into your classroom, and opens doors for your students to enter the field ready. Share what you know, borrow what you need, and help your students build careers that last.

Student Podcast Playbook

The Bell presented their Student Podcast Playbook, a free podcasting curriculum for school classrooms, at AIR's virtual meetup for Audio Educators on July 15, 2026.

The Student Podcast Playbook is a four-week unit where students will learn how to create a scripted, journalistic podcast episode from start to finish. Each lesson is structured so that students will “learn by doing,” immediately applying podcasting skills—such as interviewing, scriptwriting, and audio editing—to their own projects. 

In the webinar recording, The Bell’s staff shared sample activities from the curriculum, provided practical advice from the organization's more than eight years of teaching high school students the craft of journalistic audio storytelling, and answered audience questions.

Audio Educators Planning Committee

AIR's Audio Educators Committee meets monthly to work on initiatives that will bring educators, students and recent alums into the fold to support them in their audio careers throughout their lifespan. These are working meetings used to plan events, trainings and resources for Audio Educators. 

AIR members are invited to attend this meeting, especially members who would like to connect with university department heads, instructors, and alumni organizations; to speak to classes and extra-curricular groups; and to organize in-person events on campus and virtual meetups.  If you are interested in joining, please fill out this form.
